Who is Malu Trevejo?
Malu Trevejo found fame on Musical.ly in 2015 but naturally is now on Instagram and TikTok, with 8.5 million followers on Instagram and 8.6 million on TikTok.
The Cuban-born 18-year-old shares fun videos of herself dancing and lip-syncing, but also sings and has music out too.
What’s going on with her mom?
Although Trevejo has had a following for years, it’s her relationship with her mum, whose Instagram handle is @_oshun_leti, which has people talking at the minute.
On 17 September, Malu Trevejo went live on Instagram and, after a heated argument with her mom, exposed her behaviour to her followers. A tearful Trevejo explained to the camera what she was going through, accusing her mom of being a drunk, lying to her about who her biological father was, and enabling her step-dad to use cocaine.
In the video she also claimed her mom called the police on her daughter after she threw away her step-dad’s drugs.
In another Instagram live on 15 October, she also accused her mom of stealing most of her money and wasting it.

Although this drama with her mom is recent, fans have long been concerned about the relationship. A cause for concern for many was the frequent videos and Instagram lives that involved Trevejo’s mom twerking.
In an Instagram live on 29 September, Trevejo discussed her shock and disgust at the videos. “I look at that sh*t now and I’m like ‘what the f*ck was I laughing about’ why was I even letting that shit happen?” she tells the camera.
She has also previously exposed her mom on her stories for being neglectful, including filming an argument with her in December 2019 around money and food.
One reads: “It’s my money. I don’t have to pay the house. I need to eat something I like that fulfils me. I don’t have to pay the house, the car…”
A concerned fan called Libah Khan even started a petition on the issue. However, the claims Khan makes in the petition text are impossible to verify (which is why we won’t provide a link) and it only got seven signatures since being posted.
